PARTERRE SOUND · PROJECTS

Selected work. Practical improvements.

Theatre sound and venue audio work shaped by the space, the equipment available, and the people who operate it.

01 · FEATURED PROJECT · 2024

Shakespeare in Delaware Park

SYSTEM OPTIMIZATION

Better coverage. Existing equipment.

An outdoor theatre’s sloped audience area made loudspeaker deployment a central part of the coverage problem. The work examined the existing array geometry and front fills, using L-Acoustics Soundvision to compare configurations.

Revised deployment made better use of the existing equipment without a capital equipment purchase. The project demonstrates the value of understanding the space and configuring a system carefully before replacing it.

Work: Coverage modeling · Loudspeaker deployment · Existing front fills

Coverage analysis was modeled. A detailed case study will distinguish predictions from field observations and identify the configuration used.

02 · SYSTEM DIAGNOSTICS & WORKFLOW

SUNY Niagara

A clearer system. A simpler showfile.

Evaluation identified two inactive lower center-main/downfill loudspeakers, along with system EQ, gain-structure, and routing issues.

The work corrected excessive high-frequency attenuation, adjusted console-to-system levels, and reorganized routing around a shared left/right main mix. An improved showfile made the operating workflow more practical.

Work: System diagnostics · EQ and gain structure · Console routing · Showfile programming

03 · THEATRICAL DEPLOYMENT

Historic Palace Theatre

Supporting the front rows.

Sound design for theatrical productions at Lockport’s Historic Palace Theatre, combining creative production work with practical audio system deployment to support performances in a historic venue.

Front-fill loudspeakers were also deployed to provide more consistent coverage for audience members seated closest to the stage, helping maintain clarity and intelligibility throughout the seating area.

Work: Theatrical sound design · Production audio · Front-fill deployment

04 · FRONT-FILL COVERAGE

North Tonawanda High School

Extending coverage to the front rows.

The existing main loudspeakers did not adequately cover the front audience area. Small, low-cost front fills were added to serve those seats and integrate with the main system.

A targeted addition addressed a specific coverage gap without replacing the main PA.

Work: Front-fill deployment · System integration · Time alignment

The thinking behind the work.

Detailed case studies will show the starting conditions, the approach, and the evidence behind each project. The first will focus on Shakespeare in Delaware Park.

Coverage predictions, measurements, and listening observations will be identified separately, with technical diagrams and downloadable documentation where available.
